EC/R's roots in engineering are deep, particularly in areas related to the estimation of air pollutant emissions and the evaluation of emission reduction technologies. In addition to estimating nationwide air toxics emissions for a wide variety of industrial categories, we have also developed criteria pollutant emission inventories on a regional basis. EC/R staff are recognized experts in the area of ammonia emission estimation and emissions from fires. We also have considerable experience formatting emission inventory data for input into site-specific and regional models. Our experience in retrieving, summarizing, and modeling emission inventory data from the National Emissions Inventory (NEI) is unparalleled.
The evaluation of emission controls has been another major focus of EC/R's efforts for over a decade. We have evaluated add-on controls for VOC, PM, NOx, lead, and air toxics for a wide variety of industries including organic and inorganic chemical manufacturing, polymers and resins manufacturing, surface coating, oil and natural gas production, waste treatment operations, utilities, and numerous specialty industries such as flexible polyurethane foam production, semiconductor manufacturing, and ferroalloys production. Our analyses have also included evaluation of pollution prevention alternatives.
Below is a condensed list of our capabilities in these areas:
Data Collection and Analysis
Industry Characterization
Emission Test Data Evaluation
Emission Inventories and Quality Assurance
Evaluation of Air Pollution Control Technologies
Performance assessment for reducing emissions of toxics and criteria pollutants
Cost and other impacts of controls
